We’ve seen Jalopnik’s virtual ink on the Elantra, that weird Scion concept, a Lincoln facelift, trim packs on the Canyon and Sierra, and the debuts of an Alfa and Jag that already debuted months ago. No mention of the all-new Buick LaCrosse yet. Did they not attend the launch event?
It looks awesome! It's lighter and roomier and has the same AWD system as the Focus RS. Standard V6. The 4cyl mild hybrid has been dropped.

I really like the new LaCrosse, especially the back. I really hope they bring back the Super.
That interior is excellent as well.

Edit: That moment when Buick starts playing on the level of Cadillac and Lincoln hasn’t even caught up yet.

Damn, that is a fine looking car. Better than the MKX, easily.

I was one of the few that loved the 2008-09 facelift. And the Super ate transmissions. The current V6 has the same horsepower.
But I’d love to see their Twin-Turbo XTS V6 as an option.

Haha! I think you mean MKZ.

Also, you are doing a better job than Justin Westbrook. That blurb he made on the FP was the most pathetic form of coverage known to man. Somehow, there was more excitement over the Elantra than this beast. It’s a fucking Elantra!

See how boring it is? I can't even remember its name.

I think they don’t care, and I’m not sure I do either. It’s a nicer Impala right?
It’s certainly better then before but that’s relative. Honestly after being in China, a big rwd flagship would sell. Let me know when the avenier comes out.

And don't forget the piece on the GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate! A trim package of a trim package!

But they care about the Canyon Denali? Or the Elantra?
And the new LaCrosse is based on an all-new platform not shared with the Impala anymore.

I just read the blurb. Idiotic. The author didn’t even know about the new AWD system.
Pathetic.

I very much like the interior. Is that real wood? Anyway, thanks for posting this. I’m interested in the ongoing adventure of positioning Buick in the modern US market, especially how they keep a unique identity given that they draw so much of their engineering from other GM divisions.

Me too. I think GM can Buick into something truly desirable and relevant. They just haven't tried hard enough and with a clear enough vision. Sometimes I get the impression that GM doesn't know what to do with the brand, just that it's working.

I think they’ve gotten a lot of mileage out of being Opel in America. You can see they are planning on continuing that direction by the way they changed the grille to be identical to Opel’s except for the badge. I, like you, just hope they do something to keep a vision. The Avenir was encouraging in that respect.

Being Opel US is no bad thing. The difference is, our Buick versions wind up fancier and more refined. Plus we get stuff they don’t. Like the LaCrosse and Enclave.
And the horizontal bar might be an Opel cue. But the waterfall behind it isn’t.
And even at that, they’ve managed to connect it back to Buicks of the past, like the ‘54 Wildcat II and 55-57 Buicks.

You’re right. The Lacrosse and Enclave work in this market, not Opel’s; so, they’re unique. I don’t think shared engineering has to be a bad thing if done properly.
I also kinda take exception to the posts on the FP article decrying Buicks as just a car for old people who can’t afford a Caddy. I think Buick’s are for people who want premium but don’t believe you should pay above a certain amount for a car. In that respect, Good old American common sense is an original part of Buick’s DNA.

Couldn’t agree more. I’m 32 and I adore my Verano.

You’re talking to the one outspoken millennial Buick enthusiast on Oppo. If you’re going to use it anywhere, use it here.

Everyone in the Jalop-o-sphere “wants” a small pickup, but the Elantra? I have no idea. Honestly I should’ve paid more attention to know its an all platform, thats important. I was wondering why its interior was way better. Makes sense now!
